Top Gear season - Car programmes

A look at the TV show Top Gear.

Top Gear originally started in 1977 as a straightforward magazine programme featuring an eclectic range of presenters, a couple of which went on to present the Channel 5 rival programme 'Fifth Gear'. In 2002 Top Gear was revamped to be studio based whilst placing more of an emphasis on the program's eccentric humour and the relationship between presenters James May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond. A popular aspect of the show is the unconventional tests they carry out on the cars, like the famous Top Gear review of the Toyota Hilux. Tests included smashing the car into a tree and hitting it with a wrecking ball. Top Gear is a must see for any real motoring fan.
